New PS4 game, Chariot, encourages couch co-op

With games today constantly pushing for online multiplayer, it's nice to see a game like Chariot, a "couch co-op adventure platformer" in which two players work together to guide a chariot through underground levels. The game relies on physics-based mechanics, like pushing, pulling, riding, reeling, and things of that sort.

In terms of story, Chariot follows a princess whose task is to lay her father's remains in his final resting place. With her fiancé's help, the two must guide the chariot through underground mazes to reach Ha sepulcher fit for His Majesty. The twist, is that the king's ghost wants to be buried with tons of riches (because king's are greedy like that). So not only are you guiding the chariot through the mazes, but your also collecting gold and other riches.

"That’s where the couch-coop gameplay really shines. We want players strategizing, interacting, and debating live — not over the internet," explained Frima Studio's executive producer Martin Brouard. Don't worry though, because Chariot is also said to be "super fun" when playing alone as well.

Super Chariot will be released on PlayStation 4 this fall. An exact date isn't yet set in stone.
