New screenshot of upcoming Call of Duty seemingly debunks ‘Patriots’ World War I rumor

Following last week's reveal of the first in-game image of Sledgehammer Games' Call of Duty, GameInformer has has released another in-game screenshot of the highly anticipated game.

Though no details were actually revealed — sorry, no title, plot, or setting here — the image does offer "many hints about the next Call of Duty." In doing so, it also debunks a few of the rumors we've heard. I don't think we're headed to World War I with this one, folks.

Based solely on what I'm looking at in the image, the new Call of Duty — as in the one likely to release this November — is taking a more futuristic approach. Though it doesn't look like mechs are involved (at least not ones like Titanfall), the soldier — the same one seen in the first image — does have some high-tech armor. It's also looking as though this currently-unnamed soldier will be the main character in the campaign.

The new Call of Duty game will be the cover story for GameInformer's upcoming issue. It'll feature twelve pages of exclusive and extensive details as the magazine spoke with co-founders Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey.

What do you think of the seemingly futuristic setting of the new Call of Duty?
