A new developer blog post shines a light on the various ways players will be able to customize their pilots and ships in the upcoming Star Wars: Squadrons. There’ll be plenty of cosmetic and functional ways to personalize your fantasy of being an exoplanetary ace.
Star Wars is slowly returning to its former glory. No, we are obviously not talking about the movies. It’s the gaming medium where the legendary space epic has found an unexpected platform to win over fans.
After the lukewarm receptions of the two Battlefront games, EA really hit it out of the park with last year’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. We sincerely hope that Star Wars: Squadrons will follow its footsteps to revive the iconic flight-action genre Star Wars once basically championed in the 1990s.
Fine-tuning a starfighter is something that can be very personal to each pilot. It’s perfectly fine to “jump in an X-wing and blow something up” to familiarize yourself with how a starfighter feels in its default setting, especially in the customizable practice range, but from there you’ll want to tailor your loadout to best support your squadron. Pilots can adjust performance and functionality of their starfighters.
While Squadrons does offer a singleplayer campaign, multiplayer will play a much bigger role than any prior Star Wars flight game offered before. To bolster the replay value and offer a more personalized experience, a swath of customization options will be included.
A large selection of cosmetics will alter not only the look of your ships but your pilots as well. Including the option to unlock new heads across a varied range of iconic Star Wars races. The functional customization features focus on seven component slots of your ship. It’s a promising aspect that hopefully will enable unique playstyles and create wildly different squadrons that need to be tackled with some brains alongside the brawns.
Star Wars: Squadrons will be releasing this October 2nd for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One at a nice budget price of $39.99.
