New Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer expected to drop really soon

There's been a disturbance in the Force. Multiple outlets are now reporting that the next trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will drop on October 19th. The rumored date originated from StarWars7News.com, but has since been backed by other outlets.

According to StarWars7News, which sourced reader Dave Olden:

I spoke with friend who manages a chain Multiplex in Victoria, BC. He confirmed that IMAX tickets for Star Wars the Force Awakens will be available for online purchase 12:00 am, Monday October 19. He first confirmed the IMAX ticket availability, which he added would apply to all shows, not just IMAX. (If you can buy for one, you can buy for all).

That’s when he told me, verbally, that The 19th of October is when we get the new trailer. I asked, “Is that for SURE?” And he nodded and said, “Yup.”
He also told me this means for North America (Canada + US), not just here.

October 19th may seem like a random date, but it's also happens to match previous rumors suggesting that's the date advance tickets will go on sale. Some expect the trailer to be teased beforehand, possibly during the Rebels Season 2 premiere on October 14th.

Lucasfilm and Disney have already released two previous trailers, but those were more teasers than anything. I don't think this new trailer will reveal too much more about The Force Awakens, but it is expected to provide at least a bit more context for the film, which takes place 30 years after Return of the Jedi. Whatever it does show, it will likely be the last new footage we see before The Force Awakens actually hits theaters on December 18th. We'll likely have a few different TV spots, but this is expected to be the final full trailer for the highly anticipated film.
