Nintendo America president Reggie Fils-Aime has confirmed New Super Mario Bros. 2 is coming to Wii U as a showcase title.
The multiplayer game will have an option for an additional player to join in using the GamePad. In Boost Mode, the extra player can place helpful blocks along the others' path "to set a new standard for speed runs."
A separate, 3DS version will focus on collecting gold coins and will release on August 19 of this year.
