New Tony Hawk game could be made for ‘newer consoles’

When it was discovered that a new game in the Tony Hawk series was being made, there was excitement among the skateboarding community. That excitement somewhat faded when it was revealed to be a mobile-only game. Alas, there's a "chance" that a new Tony Hawk game could also be made for "newer consoles." At least, that's according to Tony Hawk — you know, the man whose name graces the cover of these games — himself.

"There is a CHANCE of something in the future for newer consoles," the pro skateboarder said in a Reddit AMA today when asked about the prospect of a new game other than Tony Hawk Shred Sessions. Presumably, he means Xbox One, PS4, and Wii U.

"In the meanwhile, we are releasing TH Shred Sessions for mobile devices (iOS, Android, tablets) soon-ish," he wrote. "I'm going rogue with information at this point so I better shut up now." Before he ended, Hawk did say that should a new console game be made it would use "the original control scheme."

"That's what makes our series THPS, and not a copy of something else," he added.

Tony Hawk: Shred was the last original game in the series to be developed for consoles. In 2012, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD, a downloadable, HD re-release of content from the first two Pro Skater games was released.
