Next Hearthstone adventure might have been leaked by a patch on Blizzard servers

Internal testing can unintentionally reveal data and if there is information to ever be gleamed from an update, rest assured that data miners are there to see it. Blizzard's Hearthstone servers were recently hit with a patch for Build 8036, the patch brought various bits of information on achievements and card backs.

Before we go into the various possibilities that the patch could have leaked, let's look at the information contained in the patch.

The two achievements in the patch:

  • purchase brm pre-sale (ID: 211)
  • golden celebration cardback (ID: 215)

The card backs:

  • Molten Core
    Source: Achievement
    ID: 18
  • Ragnaros
    Source: Season
    ID: 19
  • Golden Celebration
    Source: Achievement
    ID: 20

Both of the achievements were precipitated by "licensedetected," a common reference made by Blizzard for achievements that are awarded for purchases.

After looking at those details and calling upon our Warcraft lore, we can piece together a couple things. The "brm" achievement is directly related to Molten Core. To enter Molten Core in World of Warcraft, you need to enter Blackrock Mountain and make your way to Blackrock Depths — long story short, "brm" is an acronym for Blackrock Mountain.

So we might be safe to say that there is a special Blackrock Mountain pack that's coming and it may or may not be related to the "Golden Celebration." This achievement was less clear than the previous, Golden Celebration could be referencing Hearthstone's one-year anniversary (it released in March 2014).

We could be looking at two separate events – a new adventure and a celebration or a special 'Golden Celebration' card pack that covers the Blackrock Mountain items.

Backtracking:

In July 2014, we saw the first adventure, Curse of Naxxramas, release with 30 cards and exclusive card backs for people who beat all the heroic bosses.

In December 2014, the first expansion, Goblins vs Gnomes, was released with 121 cards and a new type of card pack.

What do you think?
