Nintendo’s TVii coming to Wii U on December 20

You'll soon be able to try out Nintendo's TVii, a new feature for the Wii U.

The application is launching in the U.S. and Canada on December 20. It was supposed to release with the Wii U on day one; basically, it enhances the console's connectivity with televisions. Users can navigate cable and satellite channels as well as browse Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video, and similar services through the GamePad.

Right now, these are separate apps on the North American Wii U. TVii will combine them. "This empowers Wii U owners to focus on what they want to watch and not how they want to watch," reads the press release. "And once users find the show, sporting event, or movie they want, they press an icon and Nintendo TVii does the rest."

TVii also includes social sharing features, such as Facebook, Twitter, and integration with the Miiverse community. Support for Netflix and TiVo subscriptions are expected to come to the application in early 2013. "Wii U owners with a Netflix subscription can still access the Netflix application from the Wii U system's main menu and enjoy their favorite content accordingly," according to Nintendo.
