In what might end up going down as one of the greatest gaming years of all-time, the fact Nioh stands as one of the premiere building blocks for that argument is nothing short of impressive. Since it has managed to sell over a million copies since launch, that has raised questions as to whether developer Team Ninja is looking to make a sequel. In speaking with Famitsu, game director Fumihiko Yasuda revealed that a sequel is being considered behind closed doors, but nothing is confirmed at this time.
Yasuda cites the incredible praise that the game has gotten in the Japan, Europe, and the United States as reasons for the consideration. But factoring in the game's successful sales records and the fact that PC players have created a petition to bring the game to their platform, the demand is readily apparent.
Yasuda also mentioned that he is aware of the fan demand for an option to play as a female protagonist and that they are considering making that addition as well.
