No, Mark Hamill didn’t almost fall to his death while filming The Force Awakens at Skellig Michael

Actor Mark Hamill, perhaps better known as Luke Skywalker around these parts, has denied reports that he almost fell to his death while filming Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Earlier this week, The Sunday Times (via Daily Mail) reported the 63-year-old actor slipped while climbing the steps of Skellig Michael, a UNESCO World Heritage Site off the coast of County Kerry in Ireland. It was said that Hamill "would have been a 'goner' had he not be caught by a guide."

Hamill has responded to the "false news" stories that have since popped up online, offering the following statement via Twitter:

Filming for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has since been completed, but some of the cast and crew of the movie, including Hamill, have reportedly returned to Skillig Michael to film Episode VIII.
