No price cut for PS Vita in North America

Sony has slashed the price of the PlayStation Vita in Japan, but it looks like gamers in North America won't be as lucky.

Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has told Joystiq flat-out that the handheld is not getting a price cut here.

"No, it's not," he said.

Yoshida mentioned the exchange rate as a big reason why we won't see a drop in cost. The same issue has hurt competitor Nintendo in recent earnings releases.

After Sony Computer Entertainment Japan president Hiroshi Kawano spoke so candidly about the need for a reduced price in Japan, though, this comes as a huge disappointment.
