Since Microsoft announced that the Xbox One would be getting backwards compatibility, the PlayStation community has turned to Sony asking when they would see their console. In the past, when asked about whether or not the PS4 would be getting backwards compatibility Sony understood why the community would want it, but they'd rather focus on "creating PS4 games and adding new services."
Now, Sony hadn't outright said, "no, we will not be making the PS4 backwards compatible," but they didn't need to. Their statements made it clear that they were not interested in adding the feature to their console.
With the community still asking for the feature, Sony's President for Sony Computer Entertainment Inc Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, clearly stated that it would not be happening. A fan on Twitter used the #AskShuhei hashtag to ask once again, would the PS4 be able to play last-gen games?
Shuehei's response was as clear as day, "No."
