October’s PS Plus games announced for PS4, PS3, and Vita

What better way to kick off October than with the announcement of this month's free PlayStation Plus games for PS4, PS3, and Vita? Although last month's free games were a bit of a disappointment, October's offerings are pretty exciting. The icing on the cake is a free bonus PS4 game with the release of Driveclub PS Plus Edition. Of course, PS3 and Vita owners will also be happy.

Below is a look at the free PS Plus games coming to PS4, PS3, and Vita for the month of October 2014.

PS4

Dust: An Elysian Tail

A 2D side-scrolling platformer with crazy-fast swordplay and screen-clearing MAGIC. In it, you play as the mysterious warrior, Dust, as you travel on a journey that takesyou from the peaceful glades to snowy mountaintops and beyond. At your disposal is the mythical Blade of Ahrah, capable of turning its wielder it into an unstoppable force of nature, and the blade’s diminutive guardian, Fidget.

Spelunky (Cross-Buy)

Spelunky is a unique platformer with randomized levels that offer "a challenging new experience" every time you play. The game is playable solo or with up to three friends in either cooperative play or frantic deathmatch.

Driveclub PlayStation Plus Edition (BONUS)

This month sees the release of Driveclub, the PS4 racing exclusive from Evolution Studios. Although it'll be available for retail, there's a slightly stripped down PS Plus Edition that offers unrestricted access to both online and offline gameplay with 11 tracks of India and 10 cars.

PS3

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Time to see what all the fuss is about. With Batman: Arkham Knight on the horizon its time to go back to the franchise roots of Arkham Asylum Go back to the depths of Arkham Asylum — Gotham's psychatric hospital for the criminally insane — and confront The Joker and Gotham City's most notorious villians who have somehow taken control of the asylum.

Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara

Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara combines two timeless D&D arcade classics – Tower of Doom and Shadow over Mystara- into one definitive package. Battle through a rich fantasy universe with a host of new features, including HD visuals, drop-in/drop-out 4 player online co-op, customizable House Rules, leaderboards, and a trove of extras.

Vita

Pix the Cat (PS4/Vita)

An intense arcade game designed to boost your heart-rate. In it, you must rescue forsaken ducklings from the nested levels of the infamous GRID of INFINITY. "Perfect your skills to SPEED and COMBO UP until you reach the explosive FEVER TIME!"

Rainbow Moon (PS3/Vita)

Rainbow Moon is a role-playing game filled with exploration, turn-based battles, and character development. It offers six playable main characters, each with upgradeable weapons and amor, and more than 20 challenging dungeons spanning a story that lasts over 40 hours.

All of these games will be free for Plus members starting October 7th at which point September's free games will go back to regular price.
