The August 2014 release window assigned to Disney Infinity 2.0 by D23 "eronneously reported," the Official Disney fan club stated in an updated post.
"In D23′s News Briefs published April 15, 2014, we erroneously reported about the launch of the next chapter of Disney Infinity," the statement reads. "This information was incorrect. More news about Disney Infinity will be shared on April 30, and we hope you will check back for that update."
Though D23 actually pulled the original post, a Google Cache of the page revealed an August 2014 release date for Disney Infinity 2.0. It teased "Marvel-ous additions to the game as familiar Marvel characters, objets, and vehicles — the possbilities are infinite."
Earlier this month, Disney actually released their own brief teaser for the game, showing Captain America's shield whizzing by characters in the game before cutting to a screen that said "Bring on the Super Heroes<" along with the label mentioning a "2.0 Edition of Disney Infinity." At this point, it's unclear exactly what the 2.0 really means — if it's an entirely brand new, fully-featured sequel, or if it's just an enhanced version of the game, with extra content like The Avengers, possibly also being released for Xbox One and PS4.
Disney is hosting an event later this month where it's expected to announce all of the details regarding Disney Infinity 2.0. Hopefully all will be clear then.
