Looks like Batman is getting The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King treatment — by that I mean it's going to be a really long movie. But seeing as how it's the last of Christopher Nolan's and Christian Bale's epic Batman trilogy, I'm totally okay with it. According to Empireonline, the official length of The Dark Knight Rises is 164 minutes and 27 seconds. For the people too lazy to do the math, that's 2 hours 44 minutes and 27 seconds.
Seeing as how I never want this movie to end, the longer the better. I must say, it's going to get uncomfortable having an erection for close to three hours. According to Dr. Ira Sharliip, the clinical professor of urology at the University of California at San Francisco and spokesperson for the American Urological Association, "A prolonged erection is usually painful […] There are some men who don't want to go to the doctor or an emergency room, but they should know that it's a potentially serious condition which can result in permanent erectile dysfunction if it's not taken care of."
Still, nothing is said about Batman-related erections. I'd like to think that a 3-hour erection related to The Dark Knight Rises is a perfectly normal condition.
So there you have it. The official run time of The Dark Knight Rises. Bring a pillow and blanket, wear pajamas, get comfy — or just go see it at an iPic theater. It's so comfortable there!
