It's not every day that rumors end up becoming real, but in this case, we got lucky. Okami HD is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC and will release on December 12th, 2017. Capcom revealed the game in an official press release alongside a trailer (embedded above).
Okami initially released as a PlayStation 2 exclusive back in 2006 but has since seen a port on the Nintendo Wii (2008) and a digital HD version on PlayStation 3 (2012). The game has long been renowned for its Sumi-e ink art style, which has yet to be duplicated even to this day. With the added power of the PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms, there is little doubt that this HD version should be the best looking to date.
It's also worth noting that Okami HD will have 4K support on the Xbox One X, PS4 Pro, and PC, so if you've got the hardware, you can take your experience a step further. That said, if you are an old school fan, you can still play the game in its original 4:3 format.
Okami tells the story of Amaterasu, the Japanese sun goddess who is forced to inhabit the form of a legendary white wolf and sets out a quest to defeat Orochi, an eight-headed demon who is inadvertently released from captivity and turns the world into a ruined wasteland.
Okami HD releases digitally for $19.99 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on December 12th, with physical versions coming only on PS4.
