OMGPOP joins the Zynga family

Today the social game companies Zynga and OMGPOP announced their new partnership. Based in New York, OMGPOP is a developer of over 35 games such as the popular Draw Something, which has passed 30 million downloads in merely six weeks.

"OMGPOP brings to Zynga an incredible team of industry veterans and a community of highly engaged players," said David Ko, chief mobile officer at Zynga. "It’s a great industry example of creating games around the ethos of giving people a place to play, meet and make friends."

With Zynga's support, OMGPOP will continue to create content for existing games and work on new titles.

"After long discussions with the Zynga team, we came to understand that Zynga's interest was in giving us an amazing platform, in terms of resources and talent, to continue to build different, out-of-the-box social games like Draw Something," said CEO of OMGPOP Dan Porter.

Konami also recently partnered with Zynga to bring social games to Facebook and Zynga's website.

Charles Forman founded OMGPOP, originally named "iminlikewithyou," in 2006.
