The Xbox One may be the all-in-one entertainment console, but the original Xbox is the all-in-one contraption to smuggle cocaine.
According to NBC Philadelphia, four men — Felix Josue Rodriguez-Pabon, 22, Nelson Audelin Martinez, 26, Wilson Michael Herrera, 20, and Yefries Guillen Herrera, 22, all of Reading, Pa. — were arrested after they allegedly smuggled thousands of grams of cocaine from the Dominican Republic to various addresses in Berks County, Pennsylvania using original Xbox consoles.
Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Customs tipped off the Berks County Drug Task Force of a "shipment" of an Xbox video game console containing "around" 1100 grams of cocaine worth a potential street value of over $100,000. Undercover agents witnessed the Xbox console trading hands on multiple occasions before police finally barged in. Three of the suspects allegedly fled on foot before being apprehended and taken into custody. Miscellaneous Xbox game consoles and related peripherals and parts were said to have been found in the homes of the four suspects. The four men have been charged with the delivery of a controlled substance and other related offenses.
Honestly, I've got to hand it to the men. Smuggling drugs inside of old Xbox consoles would typically result in a much better return value than selling it to GameStop or on Craigslist — you know, if they didn't get caught and arressted and all. Maybe they should've tried their luck with Xbox 360s instead.
