Ouya signs with OnLive, unveils controller prototype

Ouya has revealed prototype images of its controller, which will release with the Android-based console overwhelmingly funded through Kickstarter.

"We're still deciding on the buttons," said the team. "For now, we've stuck with the colored circles as placeholders. But don't fret, we won't leave out colorblind gamers."

Ouya also recently signed with cloud gaming service OnLive. At launch, OnLive will make hundreds of games from over more than 80 publishers available on the console.

Demos lasting about 30 minutes will accompany nearly every title in the OnLive library, and gamers can play at home on Ouya or elsewhere on PCs, Macs, tablets, and phones.

"When OnLive first heard about Ouya, we were excited to see console gaming becoming more available and open," said OnLive UK boss Bruce Grove. "Like Ouya, we came to gaming with a new vision for making top-quality gaming accessible to more people, and we continue to look for ways to expand on that vision.

Ouya, a system described as the size of a Rubik's cube, is due out in March. With 12 days remaining on the project, $5,554,488 has been raised (as of this writing) — way more than its asking goal of $950,000.
