Over 12,000 Xbox One consoles have been sold on eBay in November

What are consumers doing with their Xbox One after buying it? Apparently reselling it.

Since November 1, more than 12,000 Xbox One consoles have been sold on the eBay, a website representative told GameZone. Nearly 7,000 Xbox One systems were sold on eBay in just the three days (Nov. 22 – Nov. 24) following its launch on Friday, November 22.

"With the XBOX ONE sold out everywhere, gamers hunting for the latest console are coming to eBay to buy one of this holiday’s hottest gifts," GameZone was told. As of today, there are approximately 8,000 Xbox One listings on eBay.

"With more than 70% of all items sold on eBay being in new condition, eBay is a great place for shoppers to get their hands on the new consoles this holiday, with anticipated inventory throughout the season, when they are sold out everywhere else," the rep said.

Of course, buying an Xbox One on eBay doesn't come cheap. In line with the law of supply in demand, those selling an Xbox One on the website are looking to turn a quick profit. Most consoles are auctioning off for around $750, nearly $250 more than the regular retail price. And then you have the crazies who try to sell the system for upwards of $50,000.

After a launch that saw more than one million consoles sold in just 24 hours, the Xbox One remains sold out at most major retailers. Microsoft is working to replenish stock "as fast as possible," but with the holiday season rapidly approaching, the company admits there is "unprecedented demand" from consumers. If you don't feel like waiting for a shipment to arrive at your local retailer, and don't mind spending a few extra hundred bucks, eBay may prove to be your best bet for a new console.

On a side note, over 10,000 PS4 consoles were sold on eBay during its launch weekend earlier this month. But honestly, who's counting?
