You read that title correctly: Sony has announced that more than four million levels have been shared on LittleBigPlanet. Product manager Alex Pavey revealed the news on the PlayStation Blog and even gave the exact number of levels shared: 4,141,742.
A number’s just a number, right? Pavey apparently shares the same sentiment and handily broke down what four million levels really translates to. He calculated that if you played LittleBigPlanet for 12 hours a day, with 5 minutes spent on each level, it would take 78 years to play them all–a time commitment that effectively rules me out as a potential completionist.
Developers Media Molecule added their own statement: “For us the most exciting thing has always been seeing what the community does with a LittleBigPlanet game when they get their hands on the new features and tools. We’re constantly delighted—and amazed—by their ingenuity and creativity, and it’s so inspiring to see the level of affection that exists for LittleBigPlanet amongst fans around the world.”
Also revealed was the return of the Contraption Challenge, and this time around the LBP community has been tasked with creating a working submarine. The deadline’s this Sunday (April 17), so you’re going to need to work fast in order to bag a rare crown for your Sackperson.
