Pacific Rim 2 has had its troubles getting going, but according to lead actor, John Boyega the movie is finally beginning production. In a post that the Star Wars actor shared on Instagram, he revealed both the beginning of filming for the movie as well as its title, Pacific Rim: Maelstrom.
Here's the post:
Pacific Rim: Maelstrom has been the victim of several production delays, leading many to speculate that the movie had been canceled. Former Director, Benicio Del Toro denied these claims before stepping down as Director and being replaced by Steven S. DeKnight of Netflix's Daredevil fame.
It'll be odd to see Boyega in a non-Star Wars role, but I just hope the movie is worth watching after all the trouble it's had. We will see when the movie releases on February 23, 2018.
