PAX East 2014: Meet Boxman, another terrifying villain in The Evil Within

Just in time for PAX East, Bethesda has released a new gameplay trailer for The Evil Within — you know, to remind us of how bloody terrifying it is. The video shows off all-new gameplay and introduces one of the game's most terrifying villains, Boxman. It also reveals some of the highly-crafted environments, horrifying anxiety, and intricate story crafted by developer Tango Gameworks and legendary game director Shinji Mikami, the father of survival horror.

Before watching the trailer, here's a brief setup of what The Evil Within is all about.

Detective Sebastien Castellanos and his partners are called in to investigate a gruesome mass murder. After witnessing a mysterious force slaughter his fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When the video opens, he finds his world has been turned upside down. Fighting for survival in a world where hideous creatures wander among the dead, Sebastian embarks on a frightening journey to unravel who or what is behind this unimaginable evil.

The Evil Within is set to release in North America on August 26, 2014, for Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. It'll be available in Australia on August 28, and throughout Europe on August 29.

We'll be attending PAX East this year where we'll hopefully see some new footage of The Evil Within, so make sure to check back periodically over the weekend. Also, follow @Matt_GZ on Twitter for coverage.
