Persona 4 Arena Ultimax and Short Peace hit the PlayStation Store and PS3

Sony brought an update to the PlayStation Store yesterday that brought some big goodies.

While there were tons of games that hit the store, there are two games you should be really looking at.

If you're a Persona fan and recently finished Persona 4 Arena, turn your eyes to Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. It's a sequel to Arena, but it's definitely not the same game. It brings in characters from both Persona 3 and Persona 4, puts them in a fighting tournament and continues on the story from where Arena left off.

The other game isn't just a game, it's a movie bundle too. While Short Peace has flown under the radar in North America – it deserves a little recognition. The game portion of the bundle puts you in charge of Ranko Tsukigime, as she races through levels trying to outrun the spirits that are chasing after her. Ranko jumps, hovers, slides and jumps away from enemies, all the meanwhile using a melee attack to destroy her enemies.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax

There are a lot of Persona games headed our way, but that doesn't mean we've had enough of them.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax just hit the PlayStation 3 and let's just say…It's one hell of a game. Maybe our reviewer is biased because he loves the Persona series, but if you're interested in it – it's probably because you love it too. The game has something for everyone, our review even says so:

There are fighting elements, visual novel aspects, RPG elements, and a whole lot of Persona stuff. While it’s primarily an arcade fighter, the content is accessible to any skill level. A ranked online profile caters to those who are more in it for the combat than the story. For everyone in between, there is a great gray-mix of everything. P4AU speaks to both the Persona and fighting genre fan P4AU speaks to both the Persona and fighting genre fan. If you happen to be someone who loves both, this game is really going to speak to you.

Short Peace

Short Peace hasn't got as much recognition in North America as it should.

It's a both a movie bundle and a game, sold as one – for the PlayStation 3. There are four short films (the anime artist, Katsuhiro Otomo, that worked on Akira lended a hand) that take place all across Japan, from present-time to the historical times. The shorts were created to celebrate Japanese culture and its 'unique qualities.' One of the shorts was even nominated for an Academy Award (Best Animated Short Film).

The game portion of the bundle, titled Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day, is directed by Suda51's game producer Goichi Suda, so the game is just as eccentric as his previous games. Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day takes place in a neo-modern version of Japan and is "one hell of an interesting and beautiful experience."
