Persona 4: Dancing All Night drops the mic on details about gameplay, DLC, and characters

“Don’t cry baby, keep on dancing”

It’s not only Person 5 and its glorious trailer that keep releasing new tasty news. Although its trailer was cannibalized by Persona 5’s announcement not even a half hour later, 2015‘s GOTY Persona 4: Dancing All Night continues bringing the updates to those who follow. Take for instance, Persona 4: Dancing All Night’s producer, Kazuhisa Wada, answered a whole slew of questions about the game coming out June 25th in Japan.

The questions that Wada answered mostly covered gameplay, release plans, and the characters. The thee most notable details that were given was that the game will be available both digitally and physically, there will not be a demo for the game – but possibly an event where it will be demoed, and the game will be compatible with the PlayStation TV. “Cool baby!”

Gameplay:

  • During the game notes appear from the middle of the screen, and go towards one of six different locations that coordinate with the D-pad. You will have to time pressing the respective area on the D-pad.
  • Similar to other rhythm games, there are multiple presses, long holds, and “scratch” elements.
  • There will be touch pad compatibility.
  • The difficulties are Easy, Normal, Hard, and All Night (the story mode will offer an easier game setting).
  • Persona 4: Dancing All Night takes after the end of Persona 4 Golden.
  • There’s mode outside of the story called “Free Dance.” This mode will unlock more songs as you play along.
  • There are rewards for achieving full-combos for the tracks.

Costumes/DLC:

  • Each character has multiple costumes.
  • There are future plans for costume and song DLC.
  • You will be able to look at character models through a specific mode.

Characters:

  • Nanako plays a big role in the game’s story, and will dance, but she won’t participate in the battles we’ll see in the story.
  • Hanako Ohtani won’t dance.

What I take the most out this is that Nanako won’t be dancing in the main story. Will she be playable at all? Well, at least she’s in the game, you can clearly see her dancing in the newest trailer. Also, he clearly states that Hanako won’t be dance either – nothing loss here. If I had to guess, I’d say that it’s because neither of these characters have personas. How are they going to boogie to defeat shadows then?

I simply love the fact that the hardest difficulty is called ‘All Night.’
