Captain Jack Sparrow lit up the film industry when Pirates of the Caribbean burst onto the scene in 2003, and now in 2016 the franchise is getting a comic book.
The Pirates of the Caribbean comic book is set to hit shelves this August, with the focus mainly on the adventures of Jonny Depp's unorthodox character.
Up to now – having read through the comic book's first edition description (below) – it seems that a few popular characters from the franchise will be handed an early part to play, with the plot shaped around the events that came after the Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl movie.
"Return to the world of Captain Jack Sparrow in these untold tales of pirate adventure on the high seas! After squaring off with Captain Barbossa in a cursed duel, Jack is back on the run. And while Admiral Norrington may have given Jack a head start on his escape, the chase is now on."
The comic books will be handled by both Joe Flood and Chris Schweizer. They will be published by Joe Books, who have already put together some concept art for the project.
