As part of EA's Gamescom press conference, PopCap announced the worldwide success of Plants vs. Zombies 2 which has now been downloaded more than 16 million times. The feat makes it EA's most successful mobile game launch in company history.
Plants vs. Zombies 2 has also achieved one of the biggest opening weekends on the App Store ever for a mobile game, rocketing to the number one top game position on the App Store in just five days after launch.
To celebrate the milestones, PopCap revealed a few fun facts about the 16 million players:
Plants vs. Zombies 2 is currently available as a free-to-play download on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It will be available for other platforms later this year.
Elsewhere in the press conference, EA revealed four playable Zombies classes in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare and that the third-person shooter spin-off will have an exclusive Boss Mode for Xbox One.
