Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare priced and detailed

Garden Warfare not only blew me away during its reveal because of its gorgeous looking graphics largely thanks to the Frostbite 3 engine, but also because it's a rather genius and almost natural progression for the franchise, especially since it's coming to consoles. PopCap took everything that made the tower defense game so great, and utilized that to produce Garden Warfare.

For anyone familiar with PopCap's titles, they tend to be on the cheaper side, especially since most of their titles are mobile based, or the console versions are largely ports of the mobile titles. That's not the case with Garden Warfare. When Garden Warfare hits store shelves and digital download markets, it will come with a $39.99 price tag for the Xbox One and $29.99 for the Xbox 360 and PC. The reason Xbox One owners will be paying a bit more is thanks to exclusive content that will only be available on that platform.

However, despite it's heftier price tag compared to other PopCap games, creative director Justin Wiebe pointed out that the game is "relatively inexpensive when compared to other games on the platform. PopCap's had really good success around lower to mid-tier priced games," Wiebe told Shacknews.

It's also important to note that Garden Warfare will be shipping without a single-player campaign, and instead will rely on the 24 player deathmatch, or 4 player co-op matches. This is a little bit of a letdown, especially for people like me who don't always enjoy playing against other people online. I was really looking forward to plowing through the game's campaign in order to get acquainted with the controls and mechanics, but alas, that seems like it won't be possible.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC in 2014.
