Social/mobile game developer Plarium, has announced Sparta: War of the Empires, a new massively multiplayer, real-time strategy game for Facebook.
Sparta: War of the Empires is set in Greece during the 5th century BC. As the name suggests, you play as a "lord" returned from an ongoing war against Xerxes and the Persian Empire. With assistance from King Leonidas and the Spartan army, you must proect your city-state from the constant Persian threat.
Plarium describes the game as "geared toward players with a thirst for deep strategy." To that end, you must be wise in the allies you choose and the trade negotiations and treaties you partake in. Like most strategy games, it'll also involve exploiting, stealing, trading, and borrowing war material required to build you City into a major force to be reckoned with.
Sparta: War of the Empires is now available to play for free on Facebook.
