Play Run SackBoy! Run! and earn costumes for LittleBigPlanet 3

With all eyes on LittleBigPlanet 3 for PlayStation 4, today's announcement of another LittleBigPlanet game comes as a bit of a surprise. Taking to the PlayStation Blog, Sony XDev Europe Senior Producer Tom O'Connor announced Run Sackboy! Run, a free-to-play, platform-survival game built excusively for PS Vita and mobile devices.

"The Negativitron (that big nasty vacuum cleaner who sucks up all the creativity) is back, wreaking havoc on Craftworld and nipping at the heels of our very own Sackboy!" O'Connor explained of the plot. You'll only need to tap and swipe as you speed your way through three iconic worlds from the LittleBigPlanet series — The Gardens, The Canyons, and Avalonia. Like all endless runners, the goal is simple: evade danger for as long as you.

Along the way though, you can collect bubbles which can then be sued to buy special costumes and upgrades, some even exclusive to LBP3 for PS4 and PS3. Each costume has built-in score multipliers; there's a built-in social feature and scoreboards; powerups like a Jet Pack, Shield and Magnet; and a mission ladder system that challenges you with new objectives each time you play. Of course, there's also tons of stickers to collect, along with an in-game Sticker Book to keep them all nice and organized. As you complete collections, you'll unlock special rewards which I am assuming are the costumes for LittleBigPlanet 3.

Run Sackboy! Run is due out for release in October and will only be available on PS Vita, iOS, and Android.
