PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has already set Steam's record for most concurrent players ever, and its number has only climbed from there. According to Steam Charts (via Kotaku), PUBG is within 15,000 users of breaking the 2 million mark of concurrent players, a feat no other game in Steam history has achieved. As of this writing, PUBG's all-time mark stands at 1,984,278 and considering that it was just last month that the game broke's DotA 2's record of 1,348,374, it feels like it could be any day now.
Since launching into Steam's Early Access program back in March, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has seen a constant growth in its player base. Just check out this graph (courtesy of Steam Charts).
The game has grown by over 64% in each of the last three months, which is quite impressive. The game figures to become even larger once it launches on the Xbox One Preview Program during Q4 2017 (assuming that window holds). Regardless of your feelings on PUBG, it's impossible to deny that we are looking at a historic game in the way it has impacted a genre (Battle Royale) and an entire distribution platform (Steam).
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is available now on Steam Early Access.
