Pokémon GO could be the first Augmented Reality game playable on the Nintendo NX, according to Macquarie Capital Securities's predictions.
The Japanese-based company predicts that Nintendo's upcoming NX console will be marketed with a $200 price point and will have an element of AR in the system's setup. While Pokémon GO has been directed towards the thriving mobile gaming market thus far, MCS has identified the possibility of the game being compatible for NX too.
MCS are not the first to make predictions in regards to the Nintendo NX, after all, Nintendo have released very little in terms of console specification. One games consultant, Dr. Sertan Toto, claims that Niantic are opening more and more doors for these interactive titles.
“In a quote, John Hanke (CEO of Niantic proper) says the platform is a new business he wants to see developing quicker through his company’s Japan operations.
“Generally speaking, Japanese gaming companies (I mean Nintendo in this specific case) love going vertical by becoming platforms if any opportunity to do so opens up: so it might very well be that Pokemon is not the only Nintendo mobile game that will make use of AR and GPS going forward," wrote Toto in his Kanten Games blog.
Nintendo NX will reportedly release in two parts, with the first controller device coming this year while part two – a console – will launch in 2017.
The upcoming Pokémon game might well work with the Nintendo NX, but that remains to be seen. However in terms of confirmed features, Pokémon GO Plus (as featured above) will launch sometime this year alongside the game – using Bluetooth to hook up to Apple and Android devices.
