I was actually just thinking that the Vita is lacking in a true card-game. Sure, Monster Monpiece provided me with a good amount of card-based battling fun, but at its core, it was more of a game that relied on strategic placement rather than actual card-based mechanics. Today, the PlayStation Blog announced the popular deck-building game, Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer, will be coming to the PS Vita, though a date was not specified.
The biggest distinction between a deck-building game and a collectible card game, like Magic or Cardfight Vanguard ( where each player brings in their own custom built deck), is that players start out with identical decks, and through the course of the game, they try to filter out better cards into their hands.
Since both players create their decks during gameplay instead of prior to the game, they both have an equal opportunity to acquire the same cards, and this means that strategies will need to be devised on the fly in order to remain one step ahead of your opponent. It sounds pretty simple and honestly it can be, however the more you play and understand the mechanics of the game, the more you’ll see that truly great players need to learn the cards and formulate multiple strategies to help them succeed.
The pricing structure or release date wasn't yet solidified, though Shyla Schofield, Playdek’s Community Manager, has stated that the tentative release time frame is 2015.
