As part of a promotion for the upcoming Justice League and Power Rangers films, a crossover comic mini-series was announced to begin on January 11th, 2016 as a result of a partnership between Saban, DC Comics and BOOM! Studios.
The comic will be a six issue series and be released monthly, written by Injustice: God's Among Us' Tom Taylor and illustrated by Stephen Byrne of Justice League of America Rebirth. The teams of heroes will be fighting each other according to the press release as the Rangers attempt to rescue Zack. The Rangers (named after the original 90's characters) will need to rescue Zack after a Command Center breach tosses him into an alternate reality where "normal" citizens now have extraordinary powers. It wasn't exactly detailed how, but Batman and the rest of the Justice League are after Zack.
Most likely in the end they will team up somehow, but who knows? The first issue will release on January 11th, and each issue will feature a different cover combination of Ranger / Justice League hero designed by different artist as follows:
- Batman/Pink Ranger by Dan Hipp
- Cyborg/Blue Ranger by Dustin Nguyen
- The Flash/Black Ranger by Yasmine Putri
- Green Lantern John Stewart/Yellow Ranger by Marguerite Sauvage
- Superman/Green Ranger by Chris Sprouse
- Wonder Woman/Red Ranger by Marcus To
I'm glad that Green Ranger is with Superman as they are my two personal favorites. On the other hand, Batman and the Pink Ranger together just doesn't sound right to me. Anyway, the issues will be available at your local comic book shop in about three months this January. What do you guys think of this new crossover? Let us know below
