If there's one thing Nintendo is doing better than anyone else, it's keeping demand for its products high while maintaining a limited supply. While it's not the most PR-friendly approach, it's been proven to work on the general public since business was a thing in human society.
Much like its predecessor, the SNES Classic Edition is proving to be a hotly sought-after item, and as quickly as Best Buy and Amazon opened their pre-orders in the middle of the night last night (for whatever reason), the stock vanished in minutes.
Best Buy opened their pre-orders around 1:30 AM EST last night and Amazon did so around 5 AM EST. I'm not sure if Nintendo's got some data that indicates these times are the best for opening pre-orders, or if they thought it gave some sort of neutral ground for the largest number of consumers. But whatever it was, it's not leaving a whole lot of happy fans behind.
