Prepare to pay more for your PlayStation Plus subscription this September [USA, Canada]

Stock up now or forever hold your peace.

Sony has revealed their intentions of raising the subscription fee for PlayStation Plus in the United States and Canada this September. The reveal didn't come through an announcement post on the PlayStation Blog, but stuffed away onto an announcement post from July regarding the 'free' PS Plus games for August (via Shinobi) in an update.

According to the update, starting on September 22nd, 2016, prices for PlayStation Plus memberships will increase from $49.99USD for a year to $59.99 USD/ $69.99 CAD and to $24.99 USD/$29.99 CAD for three months.

The monthly fee will increase to $11.99 CAD in Canada, and remain $9.99 USD in the U.S.. Sony details that the increase in price is based on "current market conditions" and allows Sony to "continue providing exceptional value" to their customers. This is the first time that PS Plus has increased its membership prices in the US and Canada since the online service first launched in 2010.
