Among these additions are eight player online matches, a more realistic Master League Online, Facebook integration, and smoother matchmaking.

The Master League Online is a competitive league in which users guide their favorite club to victory against other users.  This year PES 2012 takes kicks the competitiveness up a notch by allowing team styles to be changed to benefit the preferred style of play with options ot choose a balanced game, physics, speed, technique, set-pieces, and teamwork.  Contracts are also introduced and players may have to be sold if their salary and contract requirements are not met.

PES 2012 now offers up to eight player online matches through PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.  Community Mode has been improved, giving users access to a wider range of  opponents.  Community groups up to 100 users can be united, and there are bulletin boards for members to pass messages. Similarly, inter-community matches were incorporated to add rivalry between the groups.
