When it comes to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, I sometimes question how much focus in on the actual game and how much focus is on the game's resolution.
I don't mean the developer's focus, I mean the video game community's focus. Regardless of whose focus it is, developer's are feeling the need to announce what resolution the game will be running at (it almost seems like if they announce a certain resolution they can escape the wrath of the community).
Eurogamer took the opportunity to speak with the Project Cars developer during EGX 2014, as most recent interviews go, the question of resolution was brought up. The developers were more than happy to share how the game is faring currently and what they aim to hit.
While Project Cars may be running at an optimized resolution on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One is struggling to catch up. "On Xbox One it's not quite 1080p at the moment," revealed Andy Tudor of Slightly Mad Studios. That won't stop them from attempting to hit their goal though – Tudor followed that line up with "We're still aiming to get there."
The Wii U is a different beast all together Tudor revealed that "There are significant hurdles that we've had to get over, and that's kind of expected," but they are doing their best at Slightly Mad Studios. The Wii U just won't be hitting the same resolution as the PS4 or Xbox One — the Wii U port is set to release in 2015, so there's still time.
Project Cars is set to release on November 18th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Does a resolution under 1080p/60fps keep you from buying a game? Let me know.
