Prototype 2: Destroy Your Maker

It seems Prototype learned its lesson after inFamous gave it a beating the first time around. Although Cole MacGrath will be returning in 2011, fans will have to wait until 2012 to get their hands on Prototype 2.

“When Prototype surpassed 2MM units we knew gamers would want a sequel to find out what happens next with Alex Mercer,” said Ken Rosman, Studio Head, Radical Entertainment. “The team here at Radical is sincerely grateful to the fans and we are laser focused on delivering an even bigger and better experience with Prototype 2.”

Based on the new trailer (below), Prototype 2 looks an awful lot like the first one. To be fair, it’s really about setting up the new character (zzz), but even a year after inFamous 2 they’re going to have an uphill battle unless they bring their AAA-game this time around.

I’m going to go ahead and predict the final boss battle is first again Alex in his humanoid form, then as a massive, building-sized mutation which is easily beaten after you figure out its monotonous pattern. This may also involve throwing cars or weak points that you have to destroy before you can damage its core. Let’s meet back at this spot in two years and compare notes!
