Fear Effect is a name that gaming hasn't seen for a long time, but it's one that a select few fans have never forgotten. After making its debut all the way back in 1999, Fear Effect is getting a "true-to-the-original" remake for a new generation of fans (as well as the old ones) for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Fear Effect is an action adventure game, built similarly to the original Resident Evil games with fixed camera angles, but at a much faster pace. A trailer of the game was released, which you can check out above.
Fear Effect gained much of its attention over its cel-shaded visual style, which helped mask the limitations of the PS1 as the game came out towards the end of the console's lifecycle. Cel-shading would soon become a traditional method of employing visuals, which have since been used by more modern games like Borderlands.
Fear Effect is also due to get a third entry called Fear Effect Sedna, which is due to arrive sometime next year on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Fear Effect: Reinvented does not currently have a release date, but it will come out sometime in 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
