PS4 Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn beta starts on Feb. 22, 2014 in Japan

During Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia's Press Conference 2013 today, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn beta will launch in Japan on February 22, 2014 on the PlayStation 4 console. February 22, 2014 is the same day that the PS4 launches in Japan.

Good news for PlayStation 3 users: Sony revealed that if you own the game on PS3, you'll be able to switch to the PS4 version for free.

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn released worldwide on August 27 on PC and PlayStation 3. After a really rocky launch where a majority of players were unable to login due to server restrictions, and then wouldn't log out when they would get in, the game has received patches and now runs beautifully.
