PS4: How digital game sharing works on Sony’s next-gen console

With a little over two weeks until the launch of the PlayStation 4, Sony has outlined how digital game sharing will work on its next-gen console.

For starters, PS4 users can share purchased digital software with any account on their home console. This means that digitally purchased games can be played by any other users who share your PS4. PlayStation Plus benefits — like online multiplayer — will also extend to other accounts on the PS4, though the original subscriber must be logged in.

Lastly, each PSN account will need to be tied to a "primary" PS4 console. This will enable all of the benefits of the PS4, including PS Plus, the PlayStation Store, and Remote Play. Although there is no limit on the number of systems you can use with your PSN account, you can only be active one two consoles maximum at once: your "primary" PS4 system and one other system.

With the PlayStation 4 set to launch on November 15, I'd expect more of these type of FAQs in the coming days. Last week, Sony promised a "grand FAQ" that will answer all of your PS4 questions. We'll be sure to keep you posted when they do.
