PlayStation 4 exclusive Basement Crawl was originally supposed to release in Europe today, but developer Bloober Team has announced that the game has been delayed. Bloober didn't get into specifics but did note that the delay was made so that they could take advantage of "exciting opportunities" that have recently arisen.
"While the completed version of Basement Crawl was prepped for launch during the last week, several exciting opportunities to partner with major industry players to enhance, refine and add-to the game arose," said Bloober CEO Piotr Babieno. "Although a difficult decision, we decided that the best choice for us, as a team, was to delay Basement Crawl so that we could take full advantage of these opportunities. We will be able leverage those new partnerships to further grow and improve the game while still providing an amazingly fun multiplayer experience for PS4 owners. We'll be able to announce more details in the days and weeks to come."
On the bright side, Basement Crawl is still expected to release in the first quarter of 2014, which would mean availability sometime before the end of March — barring any further delays. Basement Crawl never technically had a solid release date for the U.S., so no harm done. When it is released, it'll be priced at $9.99.
