Elite: Dangerous is the latest space flight/combat sim from the fine folks over at Frontier. I've been lucky enough to receive access prior to the game's launch and have been trying my best to survive in an extremely expansive galaxy.
The build I played wasn't the final version, that comes tomorrow, but I was already able to experience a slew of the activities that make the game so great. I explored a bit, found a few starports, picked up a few missions from bulletin boards, mined a few asteroids and even completed a few bounties. The point is, there is enough for any kind of player to do. Whether you want to peacefully mine the asteroids that are circling around an unknown planet, or establish trade routes between star systems, or even take on the galaxy as a feared pirate, you can do all of that!
And of course if you happen to be an owner of the Oculus Rift, then you're in for a treat as the game is already Oculus Rift enabled.
You can pre-purchase the game from the Elite: Dangerous official site here. Currently, you can buy the Mercenary Edition which comes with the digital copy of the game, as well as these extras:
- Your very own Eagle fighter ship docked in a secondary location in-game
- Exclusive pack of ship paint jobs
- A ‘day one’ ship decal
- A digital players guide
- A digital concept art book
- Plus loads more digital goodies to be announced over the coming weeks.
