There's a code making its way around social media and forums that promises a free year of Xbox Live Gold and you should not trust it. The code does not deliver as advertised and some users are reporting bans from using the code.
While the bans haven't been proved to be caused by the code, Microsoft has officially revoked the scam code. Attempting to use the following code 'WCGVB-P24CQ-C629T-7B9DY-X4W33 ' will not get you anything more than an error.
Prior to Microsoft revoking the code, it was making rounds on social media (mostly Twitter and Facebook). According to a number of users, the code was being applied to their account but didn't result in anything. Some Xbox users claimed to have been banned by Microsoft for using the code, though their claims have not been proved.
It's likely that the Xbox users are being banned for other transgressions and blaming the code in hopes of being unbanned.
At this time of year it's best for you to make your way to credited retailers instead of strange third-party sites for codes that are too cheap to be real.
