PSN goes down following PS4 update 2.0

PS4 owners greeted with PSN error codes following Masamune update

So the PlayStation 4's latest system software update, version 2.00 (codenamed Masamune), was released today and, as expected, PlayStation Network is a bit of a mess.

Following the update, we — along with numerous other PS4 owners — have been greeted with all sorts of error codes and messages, presumably as a result of the new update. Of course, this isn't too surprising. By now PlayStation owners should be used to these sort of errors following an update — just life as a PlayStation owner, I suppose.

The official PSN status page doesn't mention any particular issues with the update, but as you can see from our batch of just-taken screenshots, we're encountering all sorts of problems. So far the error's we've experienced include:

  • WS-37504-9 (when attempting to connect using Share Play)
  • E-820001F7 (when trying to access our library)
  • "This content cannot be selected at time (when we tried to get more themes from the PS Store)
  • "An error occurred during communication with the server" (we were able to connect our YouTube account, but it wouldn't allow us to upload content)

It's possible that many of these errors are just a result of the update being just-released, and I'm sure many of them will get fixed quickly. In the meantime, it looks like we'll just have to deal with the shaky service until all of the kinks are worked out.
