Psychonauts 2 crowdfunding passes $1mm in less than a day

Remember Psychonauts? Remember following Raz as he fled the circus he called home to attend espionage summer camp? Remember trying to look up what a lungfish was after meeting Linda?

It’s hard to forget a Tim Schafer game. Between Full Throttle and Grim Fandango, anything that followed was sure to be gold, and that’s exactly what Psychonauts was. That’s why it’s so shocking that it’s taking over 10 years for fans to get the sequel they’ve been hoping for.

Crowdsourcing has been a huge boon for game developers hoping to get their pet projects funded and out to their audiences and now that laws surrounding investments are changing in the United States, it’s becoming an increasingly viable avenue to get these games done.

Case in point, Double Fine’s campaign for Psychonauts 2 surpassing $1mm of its $3.3mm goal in just over half a day. With over a month to go and fans still learning about the project and campaign, it’s a good sign that the project will hit its funding goals and a proper sequel to a beloved new classic is within reach.
