Psyonix, developer of the newly released PlayStation game Rocket League, has responded to concerns that the game is causing PlayStation 4 consoles to overheat. The unexpected issues were first reported yesterday, causing the developer to issue an official response:
“We are aware of these reports and we are taking them very seriously. We have already taken measures to reduce fan noise in upcoming hot fixes and patches, and we are also investigating what kind of effect the excessive fan noise may have on the system itself,” Psyonix said. “We'll definitely keep everyone updated with what we find.”
Rocket League officially released this week, offering a unique spin on the world's sport. The game essentially pits players against each other in a soccer match. Here's the catch, instead of actual humans, you're playing as cars. It's certainly a fun game, though the launch has been marred by server issues affecting multiplayer matchmaking and, well, the whole PS4 overheating thing. The good news is that Psyonix is working on fixes for all of these issues and have been doing a great job keeping the community up-to-date with progress.
Speaking from our own experiences, we've been enjoying Rocket League all week now with no overheating issues, although today was the first day we were actually able to connect to live matches online. Stay tuned to GameZone as we will continue to update you with the latest on Rocket League.
