Report: Tekken 7 runs at 900p/60 FPS on PS4

Trading a bit of visual prowess for better frames.

Another big game release approaches in the form of Tekken 7, a new iteration in the long-running fighting game series. Naturally, the folks at Digital Foundry have gotten their hands on a "Master" build of the game for PS4 and took a look at how it runs on the standard console and in PSVR. I would never have guessed that a fighting game needed VR, but if it works, why not?

Here's the video:

What's interesting here is that they've determined that Tekken 7 is running just a smidge under the 1080p standard that most PS4 games achieve, coming in at about 900p. Naturally, you can probably expect the PC version to hit and surpass that mark relatively painlessly, but it does raise questions about the standard Xbox One version.

Regardless of what is said in the fan flame wars, it's not much of a secret that the Xbox One version of games come in at a lower resolution than PC and PS4, so it remains to be seen what the final resolution will be. That said, it may not matter much once Project Scorpio gets here.

Of course, the dip in resolution appears to be in regards to focusing on maximizing Tekken 7's FPS, which is never a bad decision.

Tekken 7 releases on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on June 2nd, 2017.
