Retailers receive mysterious placeholders for Nintendo Switch

Please Nintendo.

Amidst the rumors of an upcoming Nintendo Direct, which have been supported by Nintendo of Russia, retailers have received placeholders for the Nintendo Switch. Both GameStop and Amazon have been updated with unnamed items for the Nintendo Switch.

Update: The Nintendo Direct happened! Here are the announcements.

GameStop received six items, titled Available SKU (numbered 1 – 6), that means that GameStop will soon be making six new Nintendo Switch games available for pre-order. In addition to that, the GameStop employee (via Reddit) noted a new system SKU and a new 3DS game SKU.

None of the listed SKUs have subsequent SKUs for the Xbox One or PS4, which suggests they are Nintendo Switch exclusive titles.

It’s possible that Nintendo will be soon announcing release dates for the new Kirby and Yoshi games, which would account for two of those Switch game SKUs.

At the same time, Amazon was updated with a number of placeholders. The placeholders were titled as Switch Title 27, Switch Title 25, Switch Title 24 and more. One of the placeholders, Switch Title 25 received a name change to “For Reversal – Nintendo SNES Classic (Non-US version)”.

It’s unclear what Nintendo is planning, but that rumored Switch conference has got to be on the way with all of this.
